Sainsbury’s partners with Red Nose Day for 23rd year running

Comic Relief is partnering with Sainsbury’s for the 23rd year running, as they prepare to make this year’s Red Nose Day – which is taking place today, on Friday 18 March – the biggest yet.

The supermarket has been a key part of the drive to raise as much money as possible since 1999, helping the charity to raise both awareness and funds as the nation dons red noses, completes challenges and helps to raise Comic Relief’s fundraising total – currently over £1 billion.

Over the past 23 years Sainsbury’s contributions to the charity have totalled over £145 million, with over £11 million of that raised for the last Red Nose Day alone.

The money raised has been used to help more than 1.5 million people in the UK and 12.3 million people around the world.

As the charity’s official merchandise partner, Sainsbury’s is also responsible for the iconic red noses – which are 100% plastic free this year, for the first time ever. Priced at £1.50, at least 75p from each sale goes straight to Comic Relief, with eight jungle-themed designs on offer.

The supermarket also sells a wide range of other merchandise such as wristbands, pin badges, Red Nose plushes and mugs.
