Sainsbury’s has unveiled its new stores on Hampstead High Street spanning 1,938 sq ft, which will be open seven days a week from 7 am to 11 pm.

The store will stock fruit and vegetables, meat-free options, Sainsbury’s sandwiches and “food to go”.  On top of that, it will have freshly baked goods and a self-service Costa Coffee machine.

After consulting local residents, councillors and community groups, the store will also have a defibrillator in-store and an Argos Click & Collect point, allowing customers to order Argos, Habitat and Tu Clothing products.

In line with the supermarket’s Plan for Better sustainability initiative, the branch will use 100% renewable electricity across its entire estate and not rely on fossil fuels or natural gas for its operational needs.

As a community effort Sainsbury’s has joined other local businesses and charities in contributing locally by sourcing and unveiling of Hampstead’s new Christmas lights and tree last year.

Additionally, its Hampstead team will also support Sainsbury’s nationwide charity and community partnerships such as Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day 2022. In the past 23 years the chairiable initiative has totalled over £145 million.

The new comes as Sainsbury’s annoucned a donation package of £2 million for the Ukraine crisis, with customers’ donations through Nectar points being matched by the grocer up to the value of £500,000.

“This is a really exciting moment for us as we return to Hampstead with a fantastic new store for the community. It follows our history of serving  the area from Sainsbury’s Heath Street in the first half of the 20th century,” Sainsbury’s property director Patrick Dunne said.

Sainsbury’s Hampstead High Street local store manager Kevin Ayres added:“I feel privileged to be taking the reins of this brilliant new store and my colleagues and I can’t wait to serve and help our new customers.”

“We’re committed to being a team player in the Hampstead community and we’ll continue listening to feedback as we begin to become a part of it.”
