Chapel Down names new CFO

Chapel Down has announced the appointment of Robert Smith, a long-term shareholder of the winery business, as its new chief financial officer.

Smith is set to join the company’s board of directors and executive leadership team on 1 September 2022.

Smith has 29 years of experience in finance and is a chartered accountant, holding various senior leadership roles spanning his 13-year period as a partner.

His most recent position was at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, where he led the UK and EMEA finance transformation practice.

Smith is set to succeed Richard Woodhouse, the current chief financial officer and chief operating officer, who will remain in position until the end of August.

The winery business announced a restructuring of its executive leadership team, separating the head of finance and operations into two distinct positions in December 2021.

The announcement completes the appointments and changes to the Chapel Down ELT.

The company has also announced a strong trading performance in its fourth quarter and will unveil its annual results on 25 April.
