Points make positivity: Nectar lets customers donate to charity

Nectar members can now donate points to help support UK charities and causes of their choice, thanks to Nectar Donate – a new partnership with the UK’s leading crowdfunding platform, Crowdfunder.

The loyalty rewards scheme, which is owned by Sainsbury’s, now allows customers to donate points to a participating charity of their choice by simply logging on to the Nectar app.

With £250m worth of points up for grabs from Nectar’s 18 million UK members, a wide range of charities have already signed up to the programme; from local grassroots organisations to larger national charities such as Macmillan Cancer Support and Alzheimer’s Research UK.

Once registered, customers can donate a minimum of 200 Nectar points (the equivalent of £1) to their chosen charity.

The platform has been launched following research which revealed that most Nectar customers would like to donate their Nectar points to good causes. It also comes on the back of previous successful charity partnerships, such as Nectar’s 2020 campaign with Comic Relief which raised £1.7m.

.“We’re proud to have teamed up with Crowdfunder to launch Nectar Donate, a new and simple way for customers to support the charities and causes that they really care about with their Nectar points,” said Nectar’s head of loyalty and CRM, Alex Naisby.

“Our customers have always been extremely generous whenever we have run charity donation campaigns in the past and we know that many of them are interested in supporting local charities.

So, whether it’s donating those forgotten points or a bank of saved up points, we’re making it even easier for customers to turn their Nectar points into positivity.”
