Poundland launches chilled and frozen range to 40 new stores

Poundland has announced it is expanding its chilled and frozen range to cover 200 stores over the next few weeks.  

The 200th site is set to be situated at the retailers Flintshire Retail Park site in Flint, North Wales, just a few miles from the head office of Iceland Foods.  

The scheme was initially launched in 2019, has been popular with customers in over 170 stores. 

The discount retailer also revealed around 40 of its stores are set to receive new “shop-in-shops” to “give customers more choice.” 

Items in the range include everyday meals and snacks, including ready-meals, pizzas, pizzas and pies, as well as frozen desserts and ice-cream.

Poundland added that it is on track to have chilled and frozen food in over 250 stores by the autumn and to reach the 500 store milestone within two years.  

The discounter will also be adding trolleys and belted checkouts to larger stores for an easier checkout experience, and customers being offered a freezer bag for their groceries for £1.50. 

“To bring chilled and frozen food to more than 200 stores in such a short time frame is a tremendous achievement,” Poundland retail and transformation director Austin Cooke said. 

“Customers tell us that they love the ranges, the famous brands, and say the prices are amazing.  

“That’s why we’re pushing hard to keep going as quickly as we can so that we can bring even more choice and value where our customers want it most.”
