Tesco Marketplace expands to over 300k SKUs just eight months after launch
Tesco Marketplace has introduced over 300,000 SKUs since its launch less than eight months ago.
The products available from third party sellers on the online marketplace has skyrocketed by 3,000% since early June 2024, The Grocer reported.
The website, which looks to give shoppers “access to more” than the supermarket carries in-store or online, offers items from categories such as baby, toys, beauty, homeware, garden, DIY and pet-care.

The marketplace’s third-party products are listed alongside Tesco groceries on its website and app but are fulfilled directly by the supplier.
Tesco Marketplace hosted about 17 sellers at the time of its launch last year. Today, there are over 250 sellers, and the platform has branched out to new categories including dishwashers, fridges, freezers, art and craft supplies, posters and prints, model train sets, and curtains and blinds.
At the time of the launch, Tesco marketplace director Peter Filcek said the idea behind the model came after customer had been searching for products on the retailer’s website that it didn’t carry in-store or online.
“That prompted a stream of thinking around what we could do to open up that range, to give customers what they’re looking for because they were genuinely looking for all sorts of things,” he explained.
