Between 20 and 24 December, Asda also predicts selling just under three million bottles of spirits and over 27,000 bottles of no and low spirit drinks.

Following its 2024 Christmas advert starring the supermarket’s A Team of gnomes, Asda expects to sell 23,8000 of its festive gnomes, with the character Gnibbles proving the most popular.

Meanwhile over 29 million metres of Christmas wrapping paper is expected to sell – the equivalent of the distance between London and New York five times over, while sales of Christmas trees would fill Sherwood-forest 326 times over.

On the grocer’s clothing brand website George.com, Christmas related terms have dominated its top five searches for weeks, with 1.5 million Christmas pyjamas sold – its best year yet.
