Tesco opens Clubcard scheme to 16 and 17-year-olds
Tesco has launched a version of its Clubcard loyalty scheme for 16 and 17-year-olds, allowing younger shoppers to access member-only discounts and collect reward points for the first time.
The new “Clubcard for 16-17s”, unveiled on 24 June, enables teenagers to benefit from thousands of Clubcard Prices promotions in stores and earn points that can be converted into vouchers for future purchases.
To sign up, teenagers must be invited through the Clubcard account of a parent or guardian. The digital-only card is available via the Tesco app and website.
The grocery retailer said the move is designed to extend access to its loyalty programme to younger consumers, including those regularly shopping in convenience stores and purchasing products such as its meal deal range.

Tesco Group Membership & Loyalty Director Shama Wilson said: “We are delighted to be giving younger customers access to Tesco Clubcard for the first time, and we have no doubt that it will prove popular with 16 and 17-year-olds, whether they are shopping in one of our ‘big Tesco’ or ‘little Tesco’ stores.
“From today our new Clubcard for 16-17s members will not only be able to get Clubcard Prices in-store, including our iconic Tesco lunchtime meal deal for just £3.85, but also collect points that they can turn into vouchers for money off their in-store shopping.”
The expansion comes as supermarkets continue to invest in loyalty schemes to drive customer engagement and value perceptions amid ongoing pressure on household budgets.
Tesco’s Clubcard programme, launched more than 30 years ago, is used by over 24 million UK households, with the retailer saying Clubcard members account for more than 80% of sales across its business.
