Pret A Manger has reported a strong start to 2026, with a rise in customer visits and store estate expansion driving sales.

For the first four months of 2026, the food-to-go giant’s sales rose 7% globally and 8% in the UK, following its 2025 full-year system sales and operating profit hitting £1.2bn and £37m, respectively.

Pret cited part of this growth to its expanding store estate, which has grown to over 750 shops across 21 countries, a 5% increase year-on-year.

In the UK, the retailer has continued its expansion in transport hubs and roadside locations, including the debut of its first Pret drive-thru last month.

Meanwhile, it also launched a series of menu updates, including a new half-baguette and wrap line, the introduction of matcha drinks and a broadening of its Super Plates range.

Chief executive Pano Christou said he was “encouraged” by the business’ performance “as more customers are choosing Pret despite the financial pressure many households continue to face”.

“Over the past few years, we have invested significantly in our menu and in better value for money for our customers, while also continuing to support our amazing Team Members and improve the Pret customer experience,” he added.

“These results give us confidence that when we stay focused on the customer, we can continue to win the hearts and minds of Pret fans in the UK and around the world.”
