Lidl has launched a new rewards feature for Lidl Plus app users, giving shoppers points on every in-store transaction.

Lidl Plus Points, which goes live from 5 May, was introduced following customer feedback and is designed to give shoppers more flexibility over how they save.

The new system allows customers to collect points through the Lidl Plus app and redeem them in an in-app marketplace for rewards including product coupons, money-off vouchers and discounts across groceries and middle aisle items.

To mark the launch, Lidl has partnered with Liberty X on a new campaign, with the band releasing “Just a Lidl…”, a reworked version of one of their best-known tracks.

The music video sees the group take to Lidl’s aisles in a campaign designed to highlight the wider benefits available through the app, including personalised coupons, Lidl Pay and Lidl & Go.

Lidl is also offering both new and existing customers 100 free points at launch, which can be redeemed for rewards including cheese twists, bananas and chocolate digestives.

Shoppers will also be able to collect double points on all fruit between 5 and 22 May.

Lidl GB chief customer officer Louise Weise said: “At Lidl, our core purpose has always been to deliver value to our customers, providing a seamless shopping experience without compromising on quality or the savings shoppers know and love.

“Everything we do is driven by a deep understanding of customer needs and a commitment to exceeding their expectations. We’ve done a big piece of work to listen to customers and it was clear from the feedback that they wanted more freedom to decide the rewards that suit them.

“Since the launch of the Lidl Plus app, we’ve continuously offered innovative new ways for customers to enjoy their shopping experiences.

“From Click, Reserve, Collect to Lidl Pay and personalised coupons on customers’ favourite items, Lidl Points is the natural evolution of this journey – giving our customers the freedom to choose their own rewards.”

Lidl Plus Points will be available to collect and redeem through the Lidl Plus app from 5 May.
