Damm launches gluten-free alcohol-free Daura 0.0% in Tesco
Spanish brewer Damm is introducing Daura 0.0% to the UK, with Tesco securing the product exclusively at launch.
The Barcelona-based brewer, which marks its 150th anniversary this year, is expanding its Daura range with a gluten-free, alcohol-free lager designed to meet growing demand for moderation and specialist dietary options.
Daura 0.0% will initially be available in Tesco in four-packs of 330ml cans, before a wider rollout.
Damm said the launch comes as more shoppers seek products that cater both to gluten intolerance and reduced alcohol consumption. The brewer claims Daura is the most-awarded gluten-free lager in the world, and said the new 0.0% version has been developed to retain the flavour profile of the original beer while removing the alcohol.
Damm UK managing director Luke White said: “We know from consumer insight that there is demand for beers that work for people managing dietary requirements as well as those moderating their alcohol intake.
“Daura 0.0% brings a certified gluten-free lager to the alcohol-free beer category for the first time under the Daura brand. We’re delighted to be launching it exclusively with Tesco, a partner that shares our focus on these specialist categories.”
Unlike some gluten-free beers, Daura is brewed using barley rather than replacing gluten-containing grains with alternatives. Damm said its brewers use an enzymatic process to break down gluten while preserving the beer’s character, before removing the alcohol through vacuum distillation.
Each batch is independently tested to ensure gluten levels are below 20ppm, the threshold required for products labelled gluten-free.
The brewer described Daura 0.0% as a clear amber lager with golden highlights, hop-led aromas, light floral notes, subtle cereal and toasted flavours, and balanced bitterness.
