Sainsbury’s is offering discounts across a range of essential products for loyalty card members during the month of Ramadan to cater to Muslim shoppers.

Ramadan is expected to begin on February 17 and end on either 18 or 19 March, depending on the sighting of the moon.

The retailer will be giving Nectar customer discounts from today (13 February) until 20 March across cooking staples at its supermarkets. The move aims to make it easier for customers to stock up for everyday cooking throughout the month.

Some of the items on sale include by Sainsbury’s Sunflower Oil, which was reduced to £6.50 with Nectar from £8.50, and Laila Basmati Rice 10kg, which was lowered to £12 with a loyalty card from £19.

Supermarket chain Asda has also launched a range of discounted cupboard staples for shoppers ahead of Ramadan.
