Tesco Winter Food Collection donates 1.48m meals

Tesco shoppers donated 1.48m meals’ worth of food items across the retailer’s supermarkets and ExpTesco Winter Food Collection donates 1.48m mealsress stores as part of its Winter Food Collection.

The charity scheme was staged between 24 and 29 November, and over 2,000 volunteers assisted the store employees during the collection.

The meals are set to support food donation charities FareShare and Trussell.

Ashwin Prasad, Tesco UK CEO said: “As ever, we have been overwhelmed by the generosity of Tesco customers who have shown how much they value the hard work of our partners Trussell and FareShare in their local communities.

“I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who donated and made this such a special event in stores across the UK. Every single item donated really helps to make a huge impact in communities across the UK supported by Trussell and FareShare.”

Additionally, over £300,000 was raised for the two charities from shoppers rounding up their bill to the nearest pound and online contributions.

Tesco donated a total of over £2m in funding in 2025 to support the food banks.

Research from Trussell found that over 14m in the UK are facing hunger, including 3.8m children.

The Group estimated that their community of food banks will need to donate emergency food parcels every ten seconds over winter to meet the need.
