Aldi to provide The Salvation Army with unsold Specialbuys
Aldi is to provide The Salvation Army with unsold, non-food Specialbuys (popular discounted products sold on a first-come, first-served basis) in a new charity tie-up.
The discount grocer will provide Salvation Army stores with items such as kitchen accessories, home furnishings and clothing at a reduced cost.
The Salvation Army stores will then resell the products with profits going to its ongoing work to support the most vulnerable in the community and provide services for the homeless, elderly and families.
The partnership follows a successful year-long trial with the trading arm of the charity, during which Salvation Army Trading Company raised over £350,000 through the sale of Aldi products in its stores.

Aldi UK national sustainability director Luke Emery said: “We’re committed to doing all that we can to support our local communities and it’s great to be able to support The Salvation Army.
“We know the profits raised will provide vital funds for the charity to continue its ongoing work to support those who need it most across the country.”
The Salvation Army head of corporate partnerships Kirk Bradley added: “We are delighted to partner with Aldi to offer some of its products in our stores. This partnership will contribute to providing a vital funding source for our charity as well as great quality products to our customers across the UK.”
Aldi provides surplus food from all its stores to hundreds of charities across the country through its long-term partnership with Neighbourly. Since the partnership began in 2019, the grocer has donated over 40 million meals to local communities.
