Asda is investing in lowering prices further for colleagues by increasing its staff discount to 15%.

Previously 10%, the new discount will be a permanent change for colleagues and comes as the supermarket giant has described its employees as its “biggest champions”, adding that they are ” key in helping us to meet the needs of hard-working families daily”.

The change, which was announced via social media today (30 January), comes as Asda is rolling back on prices across more than 4,000 popular products, marking the return of its infamous Rollback campaign.

The campaign is set to offer customers an average discount of 25% on products across various categories, including those in its Express convenience stores.

Following both changes today, Asda said: “Through this permanent change to colleague discount and the Rollback to Asda Price, we’re helping colleagues and customers alike to save more money by bringing unbeatable value to 1,000s of products in-store and online”.

It comes as the supermarket axed its Aldi Lidl price match campaign earlier this week, as chairman Allan Leighton kickstarts its cost-cutting turnaround plan.

Over the past month, this has seen changes including redundancies and new senior appointments, as Leighton warned of a long road ahead for the ailing supermarket.

The problem is ASDA Colleagues are not allowed to share ASDA Colleague discount card with the family members who does not stay at the same address. Asda Colleagues entitled 2 discount card each. Why we cant give Asda Colleague discount card to a family member who does not stay in the same address. In my opinion it would bring more new permanent customers to ASDA.

It’s still cheaper to shop elsewhere. The 15% discount is worthless!

Taking it off the customer and giving to the staff who already have a bigger discount than customers. No wonder people are stopping shopping at Asda they don’t give a shit about customers.

This means even their own staff have stopped shopping there. This and the roller backs won’t save them it’s going to make things worse as all the people who only went for the rewards app are going elsewhere

Well it’s a start let’s get back to the days when there was only 1 ASDA PRICE. Always good to see that colleagues are not taken for granted.

I think it will take more than an extra 5% discount to bring the colleagues back on side. We’ve been treated appallingly for years now. It will also be interesting to see what if anything they pay above the minimum wage come April no doubt telling us we’ve got more discount to make up for it.
