Coca-Cola HBC upgrades full-year forecast as sales pop

Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Company (HBC) delivered strong sales growth in its third quarter, as it upgrades its full-year outlook.

The consumer packaged goods company and the world’s third largest bottler of Coca-Cola saw organic sales grow 13.9%, with volumes up 4%. This was led by priority categories such as sparkling, which was up 3.9%, energy, which surged 28%, and coffee, up 35.6%.

As Coca-Cola HBC invested further in its portfolio in the third quarter. It noted that innovations continued to drive consumer recruitment, such as new flavours and partnerships with movie franchises, like Fanta Beetlejuice and Marvel activations.

Looking ahead, the manufacturer has updated its guidance for the 2024 financial year to organic growth of between 11% and 13%, compared to its previous prediction of 8% to 12%. Organic EBIT growth will be in the range of 10% to 12%, against previously expectations of 7% to 12%.

Coca-Cola HBC chief executive Zoran Bogdanovic said he was “pleased” with the soft drinks company’s results and praised its strong revenue growth, volume momentum and revenue per case expansion.

Bogdanovic said: “I am pleased that our Q3 results build on the strength of our first half, and clearly demonstrate how our 24/7 portfolio, combined with our bespoke capabilities, can deliver quality growth in a range of market conditions.

“We are mindful of macroeconomic and geopolitical challenges as well as a mixed consumer environment. However, reflecting our strong performance in the first nine months and our confidence that we can continue to win in the marketplace, we are updating our guidance for the year.”
