Maya Jama invests in plant-based milk brand Sproud
Love Island host Maya Jama has become an investor and co-owner in Swedish plant milk company Sproud.
Jama will be the face of Sproud and a strategic advisor to the brand, which creates milk from yellow split-peas, as it continues its rapid growth.
Sproud is currently available at upmarket retailer Waitrose, Ocado and Amazon, and claims to have a better nutritional profile than other dairy alternatives, including oat, with it being low in sugar, high in protein and having zero allergens.
The brand said the drink also has a “far lower environmental impact” than other plant milks in terms of how it is produced, and is recognised by CarbonCloud as the milk alternative with the lowest climate impact.

Jama said: “I’m really excited to become a co-owner of Sproud. There’s a lot to love – the products taste amazing, and the packaging is eye-catching, too, but ultimately I like what the company stands for in terms of health and sustainability.”
“The Swedish connection also really appealed to me. My mum is half-Swedish and I have very happy childhood memories of summers in Sweden with my grandparents.”
Sproud chief executive Sara Berger added: “We’re delighted to welcome Maya as a co-owner, brand ambassador and advisor.
“Our aim is to significantly increase Sproud’s brand awareness in the UK and beyond, and Maya will help us further normalise plant-based choices for everyone – whether in the supermarket aisle or at the coffee shop counter.”
