Morrisons has kickstarted its search for up to 3,000 extra staff to work in its stores, food manufacturing sites, and logistics operations nationwide to help meet increased demand over the Christmas period.

The roles will include customer assistants, home delivery drivers, and manufacturing and warehouse operatives, with a range of flexible working patterns and no prior experience necessary for most of the positions.

All new colleagues will benefit from a 15% staff discount card as well as a 10% discount card for a friend or family member, with many temporary colleagues having gone on to find permanent positions with the supermarket in previous years.

Morrisons group people director Clare Grainger said: “As Morrisons gears up for the festive rush, we’re looking for up to 3,000 additional colleagues to join our talented teams.

“We are looking forward to welcoming these new colleagues who will have a key role in creating and delivering products to make our customers celebrations special. There are lots of opportunities all across the UK to join us with both temporary and permanent roles in our stores, manufacturing and logistics sites.”

It comes as Sainsbury’s is to create 20,000 new seasonal roles nationwide and earlier this month, M&S revealed it will hire 11,000 workers – an increase of 1,000 from last season – as it anticipates heightened demand during the festive period.
