Bestway Retail partners with UK forecourt operator to accelerate growth

Bestway Retail has entered into a new long-term partnership with the UK’s fifth largest independent forecourt operator, Penny Petroleum, to accelerate its long-term growth plans.

The pair, who have already been working together for the past three years, have been focused on optimising their joint offer to 11 forecourts and retail stores in a bid to deliver strong sustainable sales growth.

The new agreement will see a further 57 stores joining the Costcutter operation – which was acquired by Bestway Retail owner Bestway Wholesale in 2020.

As part of the development plan, Penny Petroleum will rebrand its sites to Penny on-the Move and will join the Bestway Retail National Account division.

This will see the forecourt operator benefitting from a dedicated business support team, which will work closely with its leadership and operational network.

Bestway Retail director Jamie Davison said: “We are delighted to have successfully demonstrated that we are best placed to partner with them [Penny Petroleum] as they embark on the next phase of their development.

“Seeing the two teams working so collaboratively has been inspiring and has undoubtedly been a key factor for us both. The Penny team are great people to work with and we are very excited about what we will achieve together.”

It comes as Bestway Wholesale is expanding its retail range across its depot network, adding hundreds of new and best-selling products to meet retailer needs.

Last month, the wholesale giant added more than 1,500 additional listings and enhanced its online customer journey to ensure all retailers have access to the full range from their local depot, helping to improve availability and drive retail sales.
