Sainsbury’s is partnering with Costa Coffee to launch new café experiences for customers in stores across the UK.
Throughout 2024, Costa will invest more than £3m to open 11 cafés within Sainsbury’s supermarkets, with a new modern design.
The first café opened in the grocer’s Farlington superstore in Portsmouth on 15 February, creating nine new jobs.
The agreement is set to create more than 100 jobs with training opportunities available for team members.

Sainsbury’s director of fresh food Richard Crampton said: “We know that customers like the convenience of being able to stop for a drink, snack or sit-down lunch while they’re doing their shopping, and we think that Costa Coffee stores will offer a fantastic opportunity to do this within Sainsbury’s supermarkets.”
The move builds on the coffee chain’s ongoing partnership with the supermarket giant with more than 1,000 Costa Express machines in its stores and petrol stations which sold 10m cups of coffee in 2023 alone.
Costa Coffee property director Nick Ridley added: “We are excited to join forces with Sainsbury’s, bringing our much-loved Costa Coffee experiences to shoppers nationwide.”
