Online wine retailer Naked Wines has appointed a new boss as the business aims to overcome its challenges and restore its “full potential”.
The company’s UK managing director Rodrigo Maza has stepped into the role of chief executive, following former CEO Nick Devlin’s unexpected resignation late last year.
Having held roles previously at businesses including Budweiser maker AB InBev, Maza’s new position comes just five months after joining Naked Wines.
Maza said: “The value that Naked delivers to its customers and winemakers is clear and provides a solid foundation to build on.

“I look forward to working with the team across Naked and getting this amazing company to achieve its full potential.”
Naked Wines non-executive director Rowan Gormley added: “In his short time with us he has proven his ability to energise his team to get Naked back on the growth path, and his previous experience has a compelling combination of entrepreneurial startups and big company best practice, both of which we are going to need.”
The new appointment follows the online wine retailer announcing it is to axe jobs at “all levels of the organisation” as it looked to slash costs to claw back profit, prompted by sales at the wine retailer falling 10% year on year in its golden quarter.
Devlin stepped down in November when Naked Wines issued a severe profit warning, however, he remains at the helm of its US company.
