Waitrose relaunches Christmas Giving Trees initiative

Waitrose is relaunching its ‘Giving Trees’ initiative in a bid to raise donations for the John Lewis Partnership’s ‘Building Happier Futures’ programme.

The in-store feature will allow customers to give back to the community through the act of picking up a gift tag and taking it to the checkout to donate a desired amount.

Last year the programme, which represents the retailer’s ongoing commitment to give people who have experienced care a better future, raised over £600,000 for charities including Action for Children and Who Cares? Scotland.

It follows Waitrose and John Lewis’ initiative generating over £1.1 million in the last year alone for its Building Happier Futures programme.

John Lewis Partnership sustainability and ethics lead, social impact and health Lindsey Crompton said: “Our ambition to build happier futures for Care Experienced people is at the very heart of our purpose.

“We’re so grateful that our thoughtful customers care as greatly about this as we do, helping to generate vital funds this Christmas to support young people’s lives for the better.”

The retailer is also contributing to charity this year by pledging to donate £100,000 of sales from its Waitrose Christmas Chocolate Yule Log to Building Happier Futures.

Other items sales that will add to John Lewis partnership’s charity donation include its Christmas cards and the John Lewis’s 100 years and Christmas 2023 bear.
