Celebrity wines: What’s on the market in UK retailers?

The celebrity-owned wines category is booming at the moment as an ever-growing array of stars launch their own tipples.

Grocery Gazette looks at what celeb wine ranges are available in UK supermarkets and how they are performing.

Gary Barlow Organic – £8

Gary Barlow launched his own wine line in 2021, simply named Gary Barlow Organic, which is complete with a fitting piano key label.

The singer worked with winemaker Paul Schaafsma, of Benchmark Drinks, who also created wines with Sir Ian Botham and Kylie Minogue.

His wines are available for £8.75 each in UK supermarkets, including Waitrose and Morrisons

Graham Norton’s Own Wine – £10

Irish actor Graham Norton has his own brand of sauvignon blanc, shiraz, prosecco and rosé.

New Zealand firm Invivo Wines, which produces Graham Norton’s Own, sells 15 million bottles of the star’s wines across the world each year. Sauvignon blanc is his most popular seller range.

Norton first partnered with Invivo in 2014, selling on 12,000 bottles of wine that year. The TV personality’s collection of wines have been awarded over 200 accolades.

Graham Norton’s Own retails for £10, but the price varies by type. It can be purchased online and in select Tesco, Morrisons, Asda, Ocado and Iceland stores across the UK.

Gordon Ramsay’s Vibrante Bianco – £10

In partnership with renowned Italian winemaker Alberto Antonini, Gordon Ramsay has worked on a selection of table wines named ‘Vibrante Bianco’.

The contemporary range of Italian table wines is from some of Italy’s best wine growing regions, such as Tuscany and Abruzzo.

Snoop Dogg’s ‘Snoop Cali Red’ by 19 Crimes – £11

Snoop Dogg has partnered with Australian red wine brand 19 Crimes to create ‘Snoop Cali Red’, a blend of petit syrah, zinfandel and merlot.

The rapper teamed up with 19 Crimes after it was voted the UK’s favourite supermarket wine three years ago – which was inspired by the British convicts who were transported to Australia for a life of hard labour from 1778 to 1868.

Snoop Cali Red exceeded its initial 12-month sales forecast of 125,000 cases in the first six weeks of its release in the US in 2021.

Drinks International named 19 Crimes at number four on it list of the world’s most admired wine brands for 2020. The rapper’s blend was named number one wine innovation to be launched in the US that same year.

Snoop Cali Red can be purchased online and at select grocers including Asda, Tesco and Morrisons for £11.

Kylie Minogue’s Prosecco Rosé – £12

Kylie Minogue’s £12 pink fizz has topped the list as the UK’s bestselling branded Prosecco rosé, selling more than seven million bottles from her portfolio of wines in 2022, with £7.7m of sales.
