Ocado appoints Tesco grocery director as new CCO

Ocado has appointed Tesco grocery category director, Amit Chitnis, as its new chief commercial officer.

Chitnis will be taking over from interim CCO Rose Price, who is retiring at the end of 2023, later this year.

Having held the role at the online grocer since September 2022, Price has previously spent more than 12 years at Ocado as buying director.

Chitnis first joined leading retailer Tesco in 2014 as head of group strategy, before taking on other positions including head of retail operations at its west London convenience stores and category head for cooking ingredients and global grocery.

In 2020, he became director of trading at Tesco subsidiary Booker Wholesale, before being appointed grocery category director in May 2022.

Revealing the appointment today on Linkedin, Ocado said: “We’re delighted to have announced the appointment of our new chief commercial officer, Amit Chitnis, who will be joining us later this year.

“Amit has a wealth of retail and grocery experience and we can’t wait for him to start. He will be heading up our commercial team and taking over from Rose Price who will be retiring at the end of year.”

This comes as Ocado also appointed a new chief financial officer in April. Former Pepco Group interim CFO Mat Ankers will now oversee the business’s finance, operations, IT and insights.
