Tesco launches price lock on over 1,000 products until Easter

Tesco is launching a new price lock on over 1,000 products until Easter to support shoppers as food inflation soars to 13.3%.

Locking prices on both popular branded products and own-brand staples, the items range from cupboard essentials to meals and household products.

The commitment which is available across larger Tesco stores and online includes Heinz Baked Beans locked at 65p, Robinsons Orange Squash at £1.25, Kellogg’s All Bran Cereal at £3 and Tesco 80 Teabags at £1 until 10 April.

This follows on from the leading retailers price lock commitment on hundreds of products last year which ran from 5 October until the beginning of this year.

“As we start the New Year, we know times are tough for many of our customers right now,” Tesco UK chief executive, Jason Tarry said.

“We hope this extended price lock commitment gives our customers the certainty of knowing that over a thousand household favourites and own brand essentials will stay at the same low price for months to come – helping them budget when they need it most.”

This comes as Tesco is among supermarkets including Asda and Morrisons that have confirmed their support for digital age verification checks at self checkouts.

This follows a series of Home Office trials which revealed there is an appetite for new ways for consumers to prove their age and allowed customers to buy age-restricted items – such as alcohol – without a member of staff physically checking their ID.
