Milk & More has partnered with Geotab reseller, LEVL Telematics to help offset the businesses rising energy costs.

The move has seen GPS technology and on-board diagnostics systems installed which feeds data back to the grocery e-doorstep delivery service, increasing the efficiency of its fleet.

Milk & More can also now analyse journey data across its 1,000 milkmen and milkwomen who provide over one million deliveries each week.

The first company in the UK to use the integrated road speed limiting system, this has led to a 19% increase on the range of its electric fleet allowing it to reach more customers on a delivery round and taking less time to fully charge, also saving electricity.

Through this new technology, Milk & More has also seen its driver safety performance monitoring scores improve by 25%.

“This is a challenging time in the UK for all businesses and consumers. Inflation and costs are continuing to rise and showing no signs of slowing down. With one of the largest EV fleets making 1 million deliveries each week we wanted to find new and innovative ways to counter energy costs,” Milk & More CEO, Patrick Müller said.

“The results we are seeing are promising, charging times for our vehicles are down which means our electricity costs are lower. The biggest benefit, however, is the increase in driver safety and reduction in accident costs.

“We will continue to monitor the progress and make adjustments to the system, in order to get the most benefits from it.”

LEVL managing director, Jan O’Hara added: “We have been working alongside Milk & More through our partners The Barcode Warehouse for many years and they are really pushing the envelope when it comes to fleet electrification, firstly increasing the range of the Electric Vehicle, by changing driver behaviour and driver interaction with the vehicle.

“Now they have taken a further step by adding real time speed limiters, this is a game changer for Milk & More and the wider industry, the initial results look good, but we will be pushing hard to make it safer for drivers, and significantly reducing the energy used on each round.”
