Waitrose has launched a £12 meal deal for two as it looks to make dining in more cost-friendly while inflation continues to push up the price of food.
The three-course meal deal offering comes as data from the latest Retail Economics-Hyper Jar Cost of Living Tracker has revealed that dining out is becoming far less frequent with over 70% of the survey’s respondents looking to cut costs and stay in.
Available from today (5 October), the offer includes the choice of 11 main meals such as Three Cheese Macaroni and Chicken Pie, a selection of seven sides featuring Triple Cooked Chips or Truffle Mash and five desserts ranging from Profiteroles to Tarts.
The supermarket giants shoppers can create the meal deal online via its website for delivery or collection, as well as in stores by selecting one own-brand item from each of the three categories.
“Nothing matters more to us than delicious tasting, quality food with high welfare. We’re delighted to be showcasing our very best Waitrose No.1 range with a new meal deal for two,” Waitrose commercial director Charlotte Di Cello told The Grocer.
“Rising living costs have made eating out a luxury, so it is important that we give our customers the opportunity to enjoy restaurant quality food at an affordable price. With a main, side and dessert to choose from, our customers can enjoy a night in with no compromise”.
This news comes as Waitrose has launched a new brand proposition and accompanying advertising campaign. The move is part of its wider plan to highlight its high quality, taste and sourcing credentials in a bid to redress the balance as its customers reduce basket spend by as much as 18% as they focus on value.
