Walkers crisps supplies disrupted by IT glitch

The parent company of Walkers crisps, PepsiCo, has experienced another IT glitch resulting in a second disruption in supplies in two weeks.

Last week, several store owners reported they had been unable to source single and multipack lines for several different Walkers crisp flavours.

The issue, affecting mainly supermarkets, has resulting in customers of both Tesco and Asda seeing a limited supply of some flavours while shopping online.

The technical disruption in crisp supplies is mainly affecting online supplies, and physical supermarkets are not thought to be affected by the stock issues to the same degree.

A PepsiCo spokesperson told betterRetailing: “We experienced a short-term IT issue, which led to the supply of our crisps and snacks being more limited than usual.

“Availability of our brands remains good, so crisp fans can continue to enjoy their favourite snacks.”

The news comes as Walkers launch a HFSS guide to support retailers with upcoming regulations.
