Tesco shoppers have been encouraged to support in-store fundraising campaigns for the UK’s three leading health charities from 31 January to 13 February.
Customers have been asked to round up their shopping costs to the nearest £1 at self-service tills, where the money will go to Cancer Research UK, the British Heart Foundation and Diabetes UK.
Last year, Tesco raised £1 million through its “helping you to liver healthier’ campaign where customers also rounded their shop to the nearest £1.

The health campaigns chosen also aim to raise awareness of the “importance of making sustainable lifestyle changes” to help prevent risks of “cancer, heart and circulatory diseases and type 2 diabetes.”
Therefore, related health information will be shared with Tesco customers to encourage them to “take small steps to help improve their health”.
“The funds raised will continue to support the health of UK communities at such a critical time,” Tesco head of health campaigns Oonagh Turnbull said.
“Our health charity partners rely on donations to continue their awareness, prevention and research work.”
The campaign is part of a wider Health Charity Partnership between Tesco, Cancer Research UK, the British Heart Foundation and Diabetes UK, which began in 2018.
On behalf on the Health Charity Partnership, Cancer Research UK director of partnerships Caro Evans added: “We’re delighted once again to be teaming up with Tesco to raise funds for research and for the vital support our charities provide.”
“Cancer, heart and circulatory diseases, or diabetes affect nearly all of us so by working alongside Tesco we aim to empower millions of people to make healthier choices that can help lower their risk of these conditions.”
