Sainsbury’s opens convenience stores in London and Liverpool

Sainsbury’s has opened two new convenience stores of Berrylands Raeburn Avenue Local in southwest London and Allerton Road Local in Liverpool.

The stores are both around 2500 sq. ft in size and will offer “great value” and “high quality” food for the convenience of their local area.

Additionally, both stores will stock specialist ranges and seasonal favourites to cater for the diverse local communities they serve.

They stores will also offer Costa Coffee machines for shoppers to have hot coffee on the go.

“I’d like to thank the local community for the warm welcome we’ve received this morning, including Tariq and Lucy for their support with today’s launch,” Berrylands Raeburn Avenue local store manager Evelin Da Silva said.

The Liverpool Allerton Road local store manager John Baker added: “I’m delighted to have opened our doors on Allerton Road today and we can’t wait to bring our brilliant service and delicious food to more customers in in the coming weeks.”

In line with Sainsbury’s sustainability Plan for Better initiative, both local stores will be powered by 100% renewable electricity and won’t have to rely on fossil fuels for heating, lighting, refrigeration and ventilation.

Furthermore, both plan on working with local food donations partners and will take part in Sainsbury’s nationwide charity and community programmes such as the annual ‘Help Brighten a Million Christmases’ campaign.

“I was very pleased that we were able to welcome not just one but two communities through the doors of new Sainsbury’s Locals this morning,” Sainsbury’s property director Patrick Dunne said.

“Our new stores help us to bring more choice and flexibility to our customers and I’m looking forward to hearing their feedback about our two newest arrivals to the Sainsbury’s estate.”

The news comes as Sainsbury’s unveiled its Nectar Donate scheme earlier this month where customers could convert their Nectar points into a charitable donation.
