Co-op donates £30k to charity through Community Dividend Fund

The Central England Co-op has announced that it will be donating £30,000 to 35 different charities and good causes from its Community Dividend Fund.

According to the convenience retailer, the fund is set to contribute to causes supporting access to food, shelter, health and wellbeing in the local community.

The symbol group will be contributing between £100 to £5000 every two months to each cause.

The latest round of funding is scheduled for distribution across the West Midlands, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Derbyshire, Yorkshire, Nottingham, Leicestershire and Norfolk.

The scheme is set to launch for the first time in 12 months after being repurposed over the Covid-19 pandemic to assist projects impacted by the coronavirus.

The Co-op revealed that 116 initiatives have shared over £175,000 during the past year.

“Community Dividend Fund grants showcase how by being a member and shopping at your local Central England Co-op stores allows us as a society to continue to invest and fund vital projects in the area – especially during uncertain times like these,” Central England Co-op society secretary Jim Watts said.

“Out relaunched fund aligns with our new Society Purpose to create a sustainable Society for all and we are delighted to share these funds with these amazing groups and cannot wait to see how they use it to benefit their local community.”
