Tesco has announced the four brands joining its year-long incubator programme, which provides mentoring to early-stage companies.

The successful brands are Tenzing (which produces a plant-based energy drink), pea and oat milk brand Mighty Pea, burger company Lean and Greens, and Nimble, a vegan baby product sterilising brand.

The programme is run by the Big 4 grocer’s product team, which will help the businesses develop through customer insight and give advice on product promotion.

As in previous intakes, most of this year’s brands create plant-based products.

They join 10 companies already on the programme, which include vegan chocolatier Buttermilk and soybean-based meat alternatives firm This.

Tesco launched the incubator in 2017. One member of its early cohorts, Brewdog, was last year ranked the UK’s most valuable beer brand.
