Tesco has seen sales of Little Moons ice cream grow by 700 per cent as a result of a viral trend on TikTok.

The trend began as TikTok users posted videos of them purchasing Little Moons’ mochi ice cream.

The product has also been sold out in Waitrose, Ocado and Amazon Fresh.

Waitrose sales of the ice cream surged by 350 per cent at the peak of the viral trend.

Little Moons reported that the product’s sales over four days were higher than over the whole of December.

The company was founded in 2010 by sibling duo Vivien and Howard Wong.

“What began a few days ago as a handful of creators posting videos of themselves going to ‘big Tesco’ in search of our mochi ice cream has now exploded,” Little Moons co-founder Howard Wong said.

“Thousands of people [are] doing the same, with over 31 million views and a massive increase in sales across all our retailers.”

Little Moons opened a new production facility in London last year with an investment of £3.5 million.
