Sainsbury’s has said it is accelerating the growth of its on-demand home delivery and click and collect services after rising demand following the pandemic.
The Big 4 grocer announced it is relaunching its same-day offer for home delivery and click and collect in nearly 250 stores this week.
The service will also be rolled out to 100 more stores by the end of next month, Sainsbury’s revealed.

Customers who book the same day slot before midday can now choose a home delivery slot for after 5pm or a store collection slot after 4pm.
The supermarket chain also revealed plans to expand its 60-minute delivery service Chop Chop to 25 more supermarkets, taking it to 75 stores.
Sainsbury’s added that it is now able to offer 20-minute deliveries at 500 stores by the end of this month through partnerships with third-party delivery firms like Deliveroo and Uber Eats.
The move comes as part of Sainsbury’s wider strategy to maximise its online delivery capacity post-pandemic, which now allows the grocer to fulfil 850,000 online orders per week.
“Customer demand for shopping online and for getting groceries quickly and conveniently has grown significantly and we are committed to offering customers choice and flexibility – whether that’s within 20 minutes to their front door or picking it up at their local store on their way home from work,” Sainsbury’s director of ecommerce Nigel Blunt said.
