Cotswolds Distillery has unveiled a new limited-edition single malt whisky as the fifth release in its annual Harvest Series.

The Round Hill Harvest Single Malt Whisky is limited to 1,200 bottles and will be available from 25 September through the distillery’s website and its shops in Stourton, Broadway and Bourton-on-the-Water.

Priced at £110 for a 70cl bottle, the 55 per cent ABV expression combines ex-maple syrup casks with Spanish oak Oloroso hogsheads and a subtle peated influence.

The release forms part of the distillery’s yearly collaboration with local artists, with each expression featuring artwork inspired by the Cotswolds countryside.

This year’s gift tube carries a painting by Cotswolds artist Jeffrey Pratt depicting Round Hill near Traitor’s Ford, an area linked to founder Dan Szor’s decision to establish the distillery.

Cotswolds Distillery whisky maker Alice Pearson said Pratt’s use of colour and composition inspired the final liquid.

“I wanted to make a whisky which reflects this, one that combines careful, technical composition with a splash of unpredictability and a relaxed, fun feel,” she said.

The whisky features notes of malt loaf, maple, caramelised white chocolate and salted caramel, followed by herbal notes and candied pecans on the finish.

The launch adds to Cotswolds Distillery’s growing premium whisky portfolio, which includes its Signature Single Malt, Reserve Single Malt and a range of cask-strength expressions.

Founded in 2014, the distillery produces English single malt whisky and gin from its base in Stourton and attracts more than 100,000 visitors a year across its distillery and retail estate.
