Data: More Brits now drink decaf coffee
The number of Brits drinking more decaf coffee has increased by 26%, according to the latest figures from research by Nespresso Professional.
The study taken from 2,000 consumers found that 9% of consumers reported a significant rise in drinking decaf coffee, while 17% said they were drinking it slightly more often.
This was driven by an ongoing shift towards mindful coffee drinking for modern lifestyles.
The research also found that 44% of consumers prioritise full flavour and 37% value a smooth, indulgent taste when choosing decaf drinks.
There is also an increasing consumer demand for flavoured varieties, with 47% of consumers saying they preferred more variety, which is particularly stronger among young consumers and men.

Nick Stevens, B2B commercial director at Nespresso UK & ROI, said: “We’re seeing a fundamental change in the way people enjoy their coffee. Consumers want coffee experiences that balance indulgence and wellbeing.
“Decaf has become a conscious choice rather than a compromise, allowing people to enjoy great coffee at any moment of the day – from morning to evening. That shift is reflected in the strong uptake we’re seeing across our clients and partners.”
Additionally, the data found that shoppers are willing to spend for better quality, with 41% of UK consumers responding that they would pay for premium decaf.
Nespresso has been working towards expanding its range of decaf coffee in accordance with lifestyle preferences, with products including Amaretti Decaffeinato and Decaffeinato Nespresso Professional.
