Co-op has launched a gender pay gap toolkit in collaboration with WiHTL & DiR which is designed to help businesses take action to decrease workplace inequality for women.

According to the convenience retailer, the toolkit will help businesses identify the drivers of gender pay gaps, come up with effective action plans and improve recruitment and progression opportunities.

Co-op aims to help companies move beyond reporting and focus on making change as well as measuring progress over time.

Natasha Hunter, inclusive partnerships lead at Co-op, said: “We know there is more work to do to close the gender pay gap, and this is not about Co-op telling others what to do.

“Our aim is to support collaboration across supply chains by sharing practical interventions, learning from organisations that are already taking action, and helping employers turn insight into meaningful change.”

This was created in partnership with suppliers across the retailer’s supply chain and includes practical insight and real-world examples covering topics such as inclusive hiring and menopause and menstrual health support.

The convenience retailer’s toolkit will be freely available to support businesses to meet the requirements for the strengthened pay gap action plan which are set to take effect from 2027.

The announcement comes after the retailer pledged to double down on its social commitments last August after members flagged rising division.
