Asda sees Haggis sales soar ahead of Burns Night
With Burns Night approaching, Asda expects to sell 150,000 Simon Howie Haggis products this January, with an estimated three packs sold every minute.
The retailer is also bringing back the Simon Howie Chocolate Haggis, designed to look like the traditional haggis but filled with fudge and shortbread instead of meat.
Two lines from the supplier, the Original and Vegetarian products have landed in Asda’s English stores to mark Burns Night on Sunday (January 25).
Haggis is an important part of Burns Night due to a poem from Robert Burns, who honoured the traditional dish in “Address to a Haggis”, calling it a “chieftain o’ the puddin-race”.

Simon Howie said: “This is a huge time of the year for us, as Scots across the country and beyond embrace the very best of traditional Scottish food to celebrate our national poet this Burns Night.
#“As a family-run business, we put heart and soul into all our product work, and we’re delighted to share our fantastic haggis range with households not just in Scotland, but further across the UK this January, through our partnership with Asda.”
Asda’s Ashley Connolly, local buying manager Scotland, said: “There’s a haggis option for everyone, from those with traditional tastes to the sweet-toothed among us. Simon Howie and Asda have the haggis covered – over to everyone else for the piping and poetry.”
