Just Eat CEO set to depart after Prosus Europe takeover

Just Eat Takeaway (JET) has announced that Jitse Groen will leave his role as CEO and will be succeeded by Roberto Gandolfo, effective on 1 January 2026.

Gandolfo currently serves as the chair of the JET supervisory board and the head of Prosus Europe.

The appointment follows the acquisition of the delivery platform by Prosus Europe in a £3.4bn deal, which was announced earlier this year.

Groen founded the takeaway company in 2000 and has since overseen the business as it expanded to over 16 countries around the world.

“After a quarter century as founder and CEO of Just Eat Takeaway.com, I am leaving the company today,” said Groen.

“I am immensely proud of what our team has built, and I want to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who has been part of this remarkable journey.”

Gandolfo brings years of experience to the role, having previously served in the role of CEO of the Marketplace at iFood for over a decade.

As part of the leadership changes, Fabricio Bloisi will take the role of chair of the JET supervisory board.

Moving forward, the European technology company plans to improve JET’s operations and upscale the customer service offered.

The appointment is subject to approval from the Dutch Central Bank.
