JustEat to close operations in Australia
Global delivery service JustEat takeaway (JET) has announced the decision to completely shut down its operations in Australia.
The move is part of JustEat’s business strategy to focus on other markets globally and push developments in different areas.
The decision is set to affect around 120 employees in the company’s Australian division, which operates under the Menulog brand, who will receive severance packages and support according to the company.
A statement from the company read: “After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to cease our operations in Australia. While Menulog has a proud 20-year history, it has been navigating challenging circumstances. This strategic decision reflects our focus on accelerating growth and investments in other markets and delivering the best experience for customers, partners and couriers.”

The delivery service will stop receiving orders from November 26. The news comes after Just Eat announced plans to axe 450 jobs across multiple countries and functions as part of its restructuring, in September.
A JustEat Takeaway spokesperson said at the time: “To ensure we have the right organisational structure in place to position the company for success, we have made the difficult decision to reduce the size of our workforce.
“By having a more streamlined approach, we believe we will be able to further enhance the experience for our consumers and partners. Altogether, this will impact a small proportion of the total JET employees. We will provide full support to the impacted team members, and we are incredibly grateful for the contributions they have made to the business.”
