Müller has sold doorstep delivery service Milk & More to Freshways Group for an undisclosed sum.

The deal is set to complete on 1 January and will see Freshways acquire Milk & More’s 31 sites and ecommerce operation, as well as taking on its 1,100 staff, The Grocer reported.

The company, which sells products including milk, bread, eggs and yoghurt, was acquired by Müller in 2016.

Freshways managing director Bali Nijjar told the publication that Milk & More will be run as a standalone business, however added that there could be potential for integration with Freshways through the brand’s modernised distribution network.

Müller will continue to own its Hanworth glass bottling plant, which is understood to supply 90% of its output to Milk & More.

Freshways is still to decide whether to continue using this plant for Mike & More, as it mulls moving away from glass due to its investment in recyclable cartons.

Nijjar added: “We’re confident we can carry forward the Milk & More business in the same manner that we have elevated Freshways over the past 30 years.”
