Morrisons has launched new Christmas gift wrap packaging and accessory ranges in a bid to make them 100% plastic-free.

As a result of the change, the grocery retailer will remove over 3.1 tonnes of plastic shrink wrap from its wrapping paper alone, on top of the 150 tonnes of plastic cut from its paper wrap, crackers and cards in the last three years.

The move will see its festive wrapping paper and gift tags undergoing a change, as well as its gift bags which will now be made from recyclable paper while its plastic ribbons will be replaced with a paper twist or paper braid.

Looking to make its Christmas gift wrap range easily disposable for its customers, Morrisons is also launching a fully recyclable sticky tape which can be placed in curbside collections.

For the latest grocery news directly into your inbox, Its range has also seen price cuts since last year, offering shoppers a more sustainable Christmas as its wrapping paper and many of its gift bags have halved in price, ranging from 65p to £1.50.
