{"id":35066,"date":"2022-07-14T15:33:32","date_gmt":"2022-07-14T15:33:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.grocerygazette.co.uk\/?p=35066"},"modified":"2022-07-15T08:34:06","modified_gmt":"2022-07-15T08:34:06","slug":"families-stealing-baby-formula","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.grocerygazette.co.uk\/2022\/07\/14\/families-stealing-baby-formula\/","title":{"rendered":"Families resort to stealing baby formula as prices continue to rise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!-- VideographyWP Plugin Message: Automatic video embedding prevented by plugin options. --><br \/>\nBaby formula is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.grocerygazette.co.uk\/2022\/07\/06\/supermarkets-security-inflation\/\">most recent essential item to be seen protected with security tags<\/a>\u00a0as struggling families have been forced to steal, MPs have warned.<\/p>\n<p>The product, which is continuing to climb in price as inflation levels rise to 9.1%, is now being kept behind shop counters in some stores to deter thieves.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the most worrying increases in food prices is for infant formula, some of which is now so expensive it is security tagged and kept behind the till because families have resorted to stealing it,\u201d Glasgow Central MP Alison Thewliss told the commons today.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat is the government doing to make sure that infant formula is available to families who need it?
