\nChampagne, custard and cream helped to drive a 3.5% growth in grocery sales over the Queen\u2019s Platinum Jubilee weekend, according to the latest figures from NielsenIQ.<\/p>\n
The data confirmed that the Platinum Jubilee saw value sales at supermarkets in the UK topping \u00a32.7bn in the week ending 4 June, 10% above the year-to-date average.<\/p>\n
Sales for the half-term week improved by \u00a392m on last year for the same period, a 3.5% growth on 2021 figures. Sales jumped a further 5.8% on the previous week; an increase of\u00a0\u00a3149m.<\/p>\n
The highest performers were teatime treats<\/a> such as cream and custard (up by 48%) and pastry good (up by 46%).
