Tesco’s Bryon Grote joins IHG as non-exec director

Tesco’s senior independent director Bryon Grote has been appointed as a non-executive director of Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG), with effect from 1 July 2022.

Byron will serve on the Audit and Remuneration Committees of the IHG board upon appointment and will assume the role of Chair of the Audit Committee on 1 March 2023.

Grote joined has held the position as senior independent director at the Big 4 grocer since 2015, having previously held senior positions at Standard Chartered, Akzo Nobel N.V and FMCG giant Unilever.

He was previously the chief financial officer at BP.

“We are delighted that Byron will join IHG’s board. Byron has an outstanding track record of serving a range of leading international businesses, both at board level and in senior management positions,” IHG non-executive chair Patrick Cescau said.

“His extensive experience, particularly in finance and chairing audit committees, will further strengthen IHG’s board.”
