CHT acquires Burton’s Biscuits

Ferrero-related Belgium company CTH has acquired UK-based biscuit producer Burton’s Biscuits.

The company will be taking over the biscuit group from the Ontario Teacher’s Pension Plan Board, which took ownership of the company in 2013.

The Belgian holding company will be adding Burton’s to their previous range of biscuit brand acquisitions including Kelsen Group, Biscuits Delcare and Fox.

Burton’s generated profits in excess of £275 million over the course of the last 12 months and have approximately 2000 people working from six production facilities across the UK, which are also included in the acquisition.

As part of the transaction, the Ferrero-related company will take over the production facilities in locations such as Blackpool, Dorset, Edinburgh, Livingston, Llantaram and Isle of Arran.

The UK sweet treats group is popular among customers for their range of well-known biscuit brands, such as Maryland Cookies, Wagon Wheels and Jamie Dodgers.

The Ferrero-related company hopes to expand on their existing range to include a wider variety of products on offer.
